China aims to attract 190 million foreign tourists by 2030, with overall spending exceeding $150 billion, as part of a five-year plan to transform the country into a “tourism powerhouse”. This was reported by the Global Times, citing the new program released today by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The plan involves the progressive expansion of visa exemption policies, the extension of beneficiary countries and the opening of new international air routes, as well as the increase in flights and transport capacity. The strengthening of services intended for foreign visitors is also expected, with the training of guides in foreign languages, the use of translation tools based on artificial intelligence and the promotion of the China Service brand.

According to official data referred to by the newspaper, in 2025 China recorded 154.5 million entries from abroad (+17.1% on an annual basis), with tourist spending of 131.1 billion dollars (+39.2%). By 2030, the government also estimates reaching 8.3 billion domestic tourism trips.
