Upon his arrival in Cairo for a state visit to the African country
China and Egypt set an example of friendship, solidarity and coordination, with strong mutual political trust, fruitful cooperation based on mutual benefit, and close and effective coordination in multilateral affairs. Chinese President Xi Jinping declared this in a written speech released upon his arrival in Cairo for a state visit to Egypt, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Xinhua reports it.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi extended greetings and best wishes to the Egyptian government and people, underlining the bonds of traditional friendship between the two ancient civilizations. According to the Chinese president, in the more than 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have stood by each other and pursued mutually beneficial cooperation despite changes in the international and regional context.
In recent years, Xi added, the two heads of state have jointly led the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, taking it to a higher level. During the visit, Xi said he will have an in-depth exchange with Sisi on bilateral relations, all-round cooperation and international and regional issues of common interest.
The two leaders, concluded Xi, will also jointly draw up a plan for the development of the China-Egypt global strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries.
