Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov met with North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un today in Pyongyang to discuss the status and prospects of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. The Interfax agency writes it.
“The Russian Defense Ministry and the DPRK Defense Ministry have agreed to establish military cooperation on a long-term basis. We are ready to sign a Russian-Korean military interaction plan for the period 2027-2032 this year,” Belousov said during the meeting.
The Russian Defense Minister said he was very honored to have met the North Korean leader, thanking Kim for the warm welcome given to the Russian delegation in Pyongyang. Russian-North Korean relations are at an unprecedented level, he added. “This year promises to be equally intense with regards to bilateral contacts on a wide range of fronts,” he added.
The Russian Defense Ministry also expressed great appreciation for Kim’s decision to invite the Russian military delegation to the inauguration ceremony of the Museum and Memorial for the Achievements of Korean Servicemen During Military Operations Abroad. “It is a great privilege and honor for us to take part in this historic event,” Belousov said.
