‘Xi and Putin assured me they would not sell weapons’
Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin “assured me” that they would not sell weapons to Iran: “in my opinion” China and Russia “are not involved in the Iranian issue. If they did, the consequences would be very serious: it would certainly not be in their interest”. Donald Trump states this on his social network Truth.
“President Xi assured me during our recent meeting in Beijing, China that he would not, under any circumstances, supply or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran. His commitment also covered Chinese companies.
Given our relationship, I take his word for it; on the other hand, I too am doing him great favors,” Trump said. “Likewise, President Putin, despite the terrible war underway in Ukraine (the relationship with him remains strong, as does the relationship with President Zelenskyy), told me that he would not sell weapons to Iran. You understand that I do not sell weapons to Ukraine, but to NATO countries that pay the full price,” the president explained. “Therefore, in my opinion, two major nations often mentioned in connection with the Iranian issue are not involved. If they did, the consequences would be very serious for them: it would certainly not be in their interest,” he highlighted.
